All our secrets Characteristics Unknown to all Even our loved ones Fear of disdain Builds on the strain Challenge of life Dear old friend of mine Now known to all Even our lost ones Strength over time Won’t be denied
2.
Hey, boy -- why are you still living at home? Why do you celebrate your failures With a glass of whiskey, on your wooden throne? Income -- I'm lucky just to fund each day There's not really much to speak of; It all goes right back to sustain And just when you're trying to move up I'll come round And I'll knock you right back down again Outside -- the skies point to lands I'll never see And all the havens in between They are surely where I ought to be Small house -- Life on my own, I must postpone Nobody inside wants to be there Life controlled by momentum and loans And just when you're finally feeling friendly I'll come round And I'll knock you right back down again Hey, man, perhaps you misheard one line in this song But then maybe Maybe that seems like a good idea too
3.
I told you please stop bringing up All those memories They eat away at my psyche More than I am willing to admit Let me self-medicate I want you to know that you’re not alone In spite of how it feels Sometimes noise becomes overpowering And your options are low And we self-medicate Give the wound some time to heal There are those who can relate Occupy the space outside Occupy the space outside I want you to know that you’re not alone In spite of how it feels Sometimes noise becomes overpowering And your options are low And we self-medicate
4.
Strings on strings, they intertwine Mix and match and realign Interfere, they may resign Left alone, they'll be just fine The workings of the human mind Certainly mine, and yours in kind They relapse and they rewind To settings you thought left behind I do not need Your own perturbing feed My zen you will delete With dictations obsolete In a self-correcting system
5.
Log in, type in something you might regret Later wonder why your friends are upset With you and your hateful cyber antics It's not worth it to argue semantics Do you really possess ears, or do you Indulge impulse? Monkey see, monkey do Shout into the void It's so easy to sit there behind your Keyboard and say, "Worst thing I've seen before," All the while, what have you ever done To bring meaning to your life? Next to none You might forget what you've said in the morn, But to others those words you shall adorn Shout into the void Reactions to reactions to reactions to reactions...

about

What is Silent Running?

It is the first of several records I'll be releasing for the foreseeable future. I had originally planned to release a track every week, but that proved to be an ineffective method of creation. Look for more volumes to be released in the coming months.

about

Mark Hennessey Reading, Pennsylvania

Mark wrote his first decent song when he was 14. That was 19 years ago. Since then, he's been writing, playing and recording music in various corners of New York and Pennsylvania, cultivating his own brand of art rock, which comes with a surprisingly personal touch. This sound was first captured on his 2016 solo debut, The Difference Engine, and has been evolving ever since. ... more
